A native New Yorker,  I obtained a B.A. in Psychology from Saint Francis College, Brooklyn, NY, in 1980. In 1995 I earned my M.A. in Education with an emphasis in Guidance & Counseling/Community Counseling Track from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.  Since 1995  I gained a wide range of counseling experience and training and worked for the following organizations in the Tampa Bay area:  Operation PAR, Family Continuity Programs, Youth & Family Alternatives, New Port Richey Marine Institute, ACTS, Workforce Development Council, Pasco County School District, Pasco-Hernando Community College and Pathways Counseling Center.  I became licensed as a mental health counselor in the state of Florida in 2002.  I subscribe to a Family Systems philosophy but I value an individualized approach to counseling, tailored to the unique needs and personality of the individual.  As a result, I use different techniques to help clients build skills and resolve problematic issues.  Those techniques include evidenced based Motivational Enhancement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Reality Therapy, Brief Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy,  Psychoeducation and Bibliotherapy.  Most importantly, I feel honored and privileged to work with those whom I serve.  My priority is building trust and a therapeutic bond with my clients so that we can partner in problem solving.  My style is casual, open and interactive.   I hope to help my clients appreciate their personal gifts and strengths,  know there is always hope to resolve a problem, understand that they CAN feel better and believe that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
